Additional Information and Items of Interest

• Enjoy the luxury of salmon fishing at its best with other anglers.  Following greetings at your ship or hotel, you will be organized into fishing parties of up to six, receive a boat ticket with the name of your fishing vessel, and board a bus for the scenic drive to Auke Bay Harbor.  The twelve-mile route passes through the Capitol City, parallels the wetlands of Gastineau Channel, and provides views of the Mendenhall Glacier.

• This four-hour boating adventure is aboard a 30-45 foot, fully appointed, cabined cruiser, setting sail from scenic Auke Bay Harbor.

• All boats are operated by US Coast Guard licensed-captains, and fishing occurs in the protected Southeast Alaskan waters amidst the stunning scenery of this incredible state. 

• The captain will encourage you to watch for bald eagles, whales and sea lions, which frequent the area. 

• You will be trolling, utilizing downriggers to set lines at a range of depths, to optimize your opportunity for catching the various salmon species that are resident to, or are migrating through, the area.  During the four hours on the water, line time will vary, and is at the discretion of the captain.

• Will I get back the fish I caught? Absolutely! When your fish is received at processing,  your name is attached and stays with it throughout the entire procedure, packaging, and shipping system.

• The tour has a maximum of six guests per boat.

• Water and smoked salmon snacks are provided.

• All hooks and lures are handled by crewmembers, for safety.

• Fishing licenses are not required for children under sixteen.

• Life vests are provided for everyone, and mandatory for children under the age of thirteen.

• The professional captains are the most experienced and successful in the charter boat fleet.

• The fishing grounds are in protected calm waters, with no ocean swells!

• Auke Bay and the surrounding areas are considered the most fish abundant waters in Southeast Alaska.
